What is an Obscure Word?

Say you've just come from a non-English speaking country and want to know what an obscure word is. We all use words like green, you, like, help, I, he, me, she, if, is, it, then, these, that, who, those, then, red, blue, sea, see, jump, walk, run, dance, hop, face, you, neck, arm, leg, body, eye, nose, will, not, no, yes etc.

Yes there are a lot of words that we all use regularly. An obscure word is a word that, although is in the dictionary and is a proper word, isn't used very often. Words like eqwal, abatjour, cullion, daedalist and many, many more. This blog aims to bring these words out of the deep, dark and hidden corner of the dictionary and let them see light! Use these words in your poems, stories, scripts, speeches, scrabble, quizzes, crosswords and your general vocabulary. Poems about frogs, ostriches, oranges(yes there is a rhyme for orange), elephants, moons, hippies, cars, bridges, oceans and more!
